Valve Has Nothing to Announce at E3 2012

Don’t count on Gabe Newell to do a walk-on at Sony’s E3 press conference this year and unveil the lengthy-awaited Half-Life two: Episode Three. Don’t count on to see that fabled Steam Box in prototype form. In fact, do not count on Valve to announce anything new at this year’s expo. Valve founder Gabe Newell says the developer of Portal and Left 4 Dead will only bring things we already knew about.
In an e-mail response to a fan all but begging for new Half-Life particulars, Newell writes “We are not announcing something at E3. Genuinely. We are not announcing Half-Life three or Portal three or Left four Dead 3.” The letter was published at Valve fansite ValveTime and its specifics had been confirmed by the developer.
Rather, Valve plans to bring the games like Counter-Strike: Worldwide Offensive and Dota two, and to show off Steam’s Large Picture Mode.

Sony’s Avian Pursuits: Three-Game Deal With The Unfinished Swan’s Giant Sparrow

If you can recall all the way back to the sepia-toned days of 2008, you may don’t forget a game called The Unfinished Swan. It was super artistic, super indie, and super, nicely, unfinished. It was, even so, also an really striking and memorable piece of unfinished technology, so considerably so that it was a 2009 Independent Games Festival Student Showcase winner (along with soon-to-be-released Feist and at present available Zeit²). You can examine out the most recent trailer of the monochromatic exploratory game now.
Looks cool, appropriate? Properly very good news! Sony has signed a three-game deal with Unfinished Swan’s developers Giant Sparrow. In an interview with VG247, Giant Sparrow co-founder Ian Dallas mentioned the deal was “extremely similar” to the 1 struck between Sony and Thatgamecompany that yielded the artsy and critically lauded downloadable titles Flow, Flower, and Journey. Other than that, although, the only issue recognized is that The Unfinished Swan will be a PS3 exclusive and will be accessible at some point in 2012.

Nintendo E3 Press Conference – June 5th
Nintendo’s press conference at E3 2012 has been scheduled for June 5th at 9:00 am PT. This puts Nintendo’s showing a day right after Microsoft and Sony’s. This placement appears suitable, as Nintendo are set to bring on the subsequent generation and unveil the Wii U in its final form. Pressure’s on, Nintendo.
It’s been tough to predict what to expect from Nintendo with so several rumors floating about. Nintendo wants to surprise us, but maybe we know far more than we feel we do.
Recent footage of the sequel to Rayman: Origins shows the Wii U functioning similar to the Portal of Energy peripheral device from Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure. The inclusion of this technologies in the Wii U was mentioned before, but the new footage shows Rayman figures (and an Assassin’s Creed figure!) getting employed specifically like Skylanders - drop them in and watch them appear on-screen.
Digital download games have also been announced as a main characteristic for Wii U and 3DS as talked about here on Platform Nation, cementing Nintendo’s position that it is not afraid to adopt a modern day on the web method like Xbox Live and PSN. Mario and Pikmin games have also been announced for E3 2012, which could possibly be sold as downloads as effectively as physical copies.
All questions (effectively, mainly) about Wii U will be answered on June 5th at 9:00 am PT. I’m ready.
The Last of Us Release Date Surfaces at EB Games
![]()
The Last of Us, the most recent from Uncharted developer Naughty Dog, has been given a November 9 release date at EB Games Canada. Sony has not confirmed the claim, but this is a great indication we may see the PS3 exclusive survival game in time for the 2012 holiday season.
The Last of Us is described as a character driven tale with survival and action elements. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic United States, exactly where a plague has morphed most of the population into one thing much less than human.
At this point, I would usually roll my eyes and move on. An additional zombie apocalypse, you say? What a novel notion! Nevertheless, the raw storytelling energy in Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series really should be adequate to get everybody excited for their next adventure. They turned a seemingly cliché treasure hunter into a thing remarkable, and there’s no cause to think they won’t do the same with The Final of Us.
If you are not familiar with The Last of Us, check out the most recent screenshots and release trailer to get a really feel for the planet Naughty Dog is making. It promises to be a dark survival story with a healthy dose of button mashing action. Here’s hoping we see more news and a vacation release confirmation in the coming weeks.
Sony Move’s Sorcery Has To Be Awesome. It Just Has To Be.

Sony Move enthusiasts will rejoice next month when their beloved Sorcery, the long-awaited title touted as The Reason to own a Move, is finally released on May 22nd. If they were anything but gamers, you’d probably see them rapturously dancing in the streets. Instead they’ll be holed up in their living rooms flailing Move wands like closet Harry Potter addicts.
A light at the end of the tunnel
And as well they should—after an impressive showing at E3 2010, the publicity on Sorcery went dark for eighteen months, generating doubt that the project would come to fruition. When these doubts reached the feelers of developer The Workshop in June 2011, Sony responded feebly, “Yes, Sorcery is still in development.” Fans continued to doubt—perhaps it was better to prepare for the worst, and if the game never saw the light of day, there would be some comfort in a resounding “I told you so!”
But in December they were happily proven wrong. Sony confirmed Sorcery for a spring 2012 release and gave some explanation for the publicity silence. Design director Brian Upton told Playstation Blog,
PS1 Game Appears on Vita Store, Doesn’t Work

Simply the most requested function for the PlayStation Vita, gamers have been eagerly awaiting news of PlayStation One particular support on the handheld. Now, a slip up by Sony suggests that we might see the a lot-desired update soon.
Sony has previously confirmed that assistance is coming, basically stating it would arrive “soon” – a word that in Sony’s dictionary means someplace amongst tomorrow and the release of the Vita two. A user on Reddit downloaded a PSOne game, but was unable to get it to work. On the EU PSN Retailer, ryukyu22 located PS1 game Buzz Lightyear of Star Command – a thing we’ve been in a position to independently verify. Ryukyu bought the game, which downloaded as usual for a game, and showed a LiveArea screen specifically designed for the PS1:

Sadly, tapping the game only brought up a screen saying that “the file is corrupt”. What does this mean exactly? It could mean nothing, but it does seem to point towards Sony preparing the marketplace database for the upcoming update. Also, the truth that the LiveArea for the Vita has a PS1 screen ready is a very good sign.
Are you hoping to play PS1 games on your Vita? Let us know in the comments beneath.
