Trailer: Terrorists Strike From Above in Rainbow Six: Patriots
Publisher Ubisoft revealed a new trailer for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Patriots Saturday at the Spike TV Video Game Awards.
In the new teaser for the upcoming shooter (above), which will be released in 2013 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, a group of terrorists tie dynamite to a helpless executive and throw him out a skyscraper window. Then he blows up and kills a bunch of people. Presumably you will have to stop this group of terrorists before they kill more helpless executives.
Trailer: Death and Destruction in BioShock Infinite
Developer Irrational Games released a melancholy new trailer for upcoming shooter BioShock Infinite on Saturday at the Spike TV Video Game Awards.
The new footage looks fantastic, showing off the aerial city of Columbia as war comes close to tearing it apart.
BioShock Infinite is the third BioShock game. It will be out next year for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

THQ to publish Nexuiz

THQ announced today it will publish Nexuiz, Illfonic and Alien Trap Software’s arena-based multiplayer shooter, for PlayStation Network, Xbox LIVE Arcade, and PC, via its Partners program in early 2012.
The game, which runs on Crytek’s CryEngine 3, pits up to eight players against each other in futuristic arenas, who can “continually alter the laws of physics by triggering 100 different Dynamic Mutators that change the match on the fly.”
It will sell for $ 9.99 when it launches early next year.
“Digital distribution has opened up a wealth of new opportunities for our industry, and really given indie developers like Illfonic a chance to shine,” said Tim Walsh, Vice President of THQ Partners. “In the case of Nexuiz, we believe that gamers have been looking for an arena shooter title for a while and we think Nexuiz is just that game-and at a terrific $ 9.99 price point.”
A new trailer for Nexuiz debuted this weekend. If you missed it, catch it here.
Stranger’s Wrath HD Comes to PSN December 27
When Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath was released last generation, it did so on a slowly dying console and to an uniformed audience. Critically well-regarded and with a very small but devout fan base, the last installment in the Oddworld series was a terrific shooter with a warped sense of humor, enjoyable weapon mechanics, and solid narrative. For those few who played it, it stands firmly as one of the best obscure games for the original Xbox.
Fortunately, Stranger’s Wrath is getting the popular HD treatment as an upcoming release in the next few weeks. Just today, it’s been confirmed that Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD will be debuting on December 27 on PSN for $ 15. In addition to a higher resolution and better textures, the re-release will also include a number of tweaks to the mechanics and game world. It’s as close to a director’s cut that Oddworld fans (all eight of us) will ever get. Interested gamers can read a bullet list of the new changes on the Playstation Blog.
First Kid Icarus 3D Classic Trailer Revealed
And there’s a little something new added other than just 3D.
Kid Icarus is definitely one of Nintendo’s lesser known franchises, at least up until recently. Originally released for the NES in 1986 in Japan (1987 elsewhere), Kid Icarus never saw a sequel or even much mention at all until 2008′s Super Smash Bros. Brawl included the franchises main character, Pit, as a playable fighter. Finally, Pit is seeing new life on the 3DS with the upcoming on-rails/ground based combat shooter Kid Icarus: Uprising. But before then, the original title will get a second lease as an eShop 3D Classic title; and you can check out the first trailer for the re-release below.
The most immediate thing you might notice about this trailer is that Kid Icarus has gotten somewhat of a graphical face-lift in terms of brand new, full color scrolling backgrounds. Gone are the original’s boring walls of black, replaced by Super Nintendo era looking environments. In addition to the added 3D effect, this is certainly an extra reason for some to pick up this classic title once again.
The only disappointing part is that is seems, at least according to the trailer, that the game will not run in widescreen like it’s cousin Excitebike does, but perhaps that will change come release time. Either way, the new backgrounds are certainly an intriguing addition. There is still no official release date for this eShop title, but in the meantime does the new face-lift get you more excited? Let me know in the comments below.

Really Big Bundle Now Available from Indie Royale
![]()
Indie Royale – the Humble Indie Bundle’s less famous brother (no relation) – has released their Really Big Bundle. That might sound like the best deal ever from a name-your-own-price sale, but it’s actually identified by the first game in the bundle, Really Big Sky. No, it wasn’t the most disappointing news I’d heard all day, but Anne Hathaway had to get married sometime, I suppose.
Really Big Sky is a dual analog shooter from developer Boss Baddie. It is accompanied by the card/role-playing game Runescape, Zeboyd’s Cthulhu Saves the World and Breath of Death VII, and the meditative ambient game Eufloria.
Depending on how much you pay for the bundle you can either increase the price (minimum purchase) or decrease it for others (beat the minimum). If you’re kind enough to do the latter, you’ll also be graced with a Disasterpeace chiptune album.
You have a little over 3 days to purchase the Really Big Bundle. If the real-time price graph is any indication, the bundle will cost $ 278 by the end of the sale… That might not be accurate, I’ve always hated math.
Killing Floor Receives Another Free Trial Weekend on December 8th
![]()
Calling all PC gamers! Starting on Thursday, December 8th, the first person zombie-shooter Killing Floor will have a free trial weekend until Sunday, December 11th. All you need to do is download it on Steam.
The developers, Tripwire Interactive, are also releasing a “mystery image” on their Steam group page. Over the coming days, they will slowly take away the pieces to reveal the full image, which is kinda/sorta like an Advent Calendar. I guess that’s one way to get into the Christmas spirit.
For those that have never dabbled in Killing Floor, or just don’t know what it is, let me just say what one of my old English teachers once told me: “Brevity is an art.” While Killing Floor is far from “art”, I’d say that its simplistic nature is what makes it such a great time-killer.
It’s just you and some friends as you take on waves of enemies getting more numerous and difficult as time goes on. Between waves you are given money to purchase newer and better weapons. At the end, you face an annoying boss. If you win, prepare to do it all over again as there’s no real ending or story.
It’s simple, it’s fairly quick, it’s just plain fun, and most importantly, it’s worth it. I picked this up during Steam’s summer sale and it feels like something from the “good ole’ days.” Now, you get to try it free for a weekend, starting December 8th.
