New Episode of Inside Xbox Features Trials Evolution

580x326xTrialsEvolution 2 thumb.png.pagespeed.ic.JgqdRZJ5 B New Episode of Inside Xbox Features Trials Evolution

Trials Evolution, the sequel to 2009’s superb and punishing Xbox Reside Arcade release, Trails HD, appears as even though it is finally nearing completion. In the most recent episode of Inside Xbox, RedLynx director of marketing and advertising and public relations, Jason Bates, talks a bit about multiplayer, level editing, and how the game is coming along in general.

Bates also goes into detail about some other new additions to the game, such as outdoor environments, curved driving lines, improved selection (a single level even makes it look like you are storming the beaches of Normandy), and new mini-games, none of which are repeats from Trials HD. If my impressions from PAX Prime are any indication, RedLynx has got one more hit on their hands, guaranteed to ruin your thumbs.

No release date has been announced yet, but in the meantime, head past the break to check out the new footage, or check it out right from the Xbox dashboard.

‘Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir’ On the Way In April

1326810048 scam Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir On the Way In April

You’ll be hunting ghosts with your 3DS this spring.

I’m with Ishaan more than at Siliconera in being surprised that Tecmo’s spiritual successor/sequel to their Fatal Frame series would be getting a domestic release, specifically 1 that appears to be so (reasonably) nearby. But that’s what is happening when Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir gets its 3DS release on April 13th—a Friday if you did not know.

Spirit Camera takes the usual Fatal Frame tropes and traps your character in a location practically bursting with ghosts, and the only way to defeat them is the capture them with your mystical camera. The console offerings in the series have been kind of handful of and far in between this present generation, but they had been often such unabashedly horror games—not action-horror, not survival-horror, but dedicated mainly to the mood and really feel of worry and the unexpected. That the controls weren’t constantly great you could kind of forgive the sluggish controls which produced your gamepad as much of an enemy as those malevolent, lost spirits.

You can get a taste of what the game is like (in Japanese, at least) from the trailer beneath:

Final Fantasy XIII-2: Demo Impressions

logo1 1024x750 Final Fantasy XIII 2: Demo Impressions

I was honestly surprised when I saw that Square-Enix released a demo of their sequel to Final Fantasy XIII. The fanboy in me instantaneously got excited and spared no extra moment to begin downloading it. The important side of me began reflecting on the final ‘sequel’ Square-Enix thought was a excellent thought. An idea that consisted of a mission based story line that by no means genuinely filled the gaps I was hoping it would fill. Even though, it did have a fantastic battle technique that I’ll admit, I sunk far more hours into than I actually should’ve, it didn’t really feel like I was playing a Final Fantasy game. Right after possibly 50 hours of grinding and leveling up dress-spheres, I realized that I had been playing Square-Enix’s Final Fantasy X-2 purely for the combat, not for the story. Final Fantasy for as long as I have been a fan, has always been about a grandiose storyline initial, and a uniquely diverse battle program second. With FFX-2 taking a entirely distinct strategy to that thought, I come back to this game. FFXIII didn’t have the greatest storyline, but it was solid and ended off with many concerns that necessary to be answered. The battle system is honestly my favorite out of all the games to date, so I would be perfectly fine if they left it as it was. What I am hoping from this demo is signs that the story will in fact move towards filling in those unanswered questions, about the major cast and the planet, and then tweak the battle program just a bit. Read on to see what I locate out.

serah 1024x576 Final Fantasy XIII 2: Demo Impressions

Serah? What happened?

The moment I start up the demo, I notice the poppy and upbeat soundtrack, which sounds fantastic even though wearing a excellent pair of Tritton’s. The other factor that I notice is Serah, Lighning’s sister on the scene with a brand new character, Noel. This confident protagonist is a dual-wielder who seems to be accompanying Serah on the journey. Really small is learned about him throughout the demo and exactly where he comes from. Serah on the other hand is presented in a far more aggressive way than her time in FFXIII, with a weapon shifting Moogle, she’ll see the front lines of battle like her older sister. As far as I’ve observed, this magical Moogle can transform into a bow and a sword for Serah to use in battle. Where this magical Moogle is from, is pretty vague but it has some thing to do with a Time Paradox…more on that in a bit.

A new Alan Wake?

AW American Nightmare 580x362 A new Alan Wake?

The VGAs are always a treasure trove for new game announcements, and this year was no exception.

Remember back to 2010, with the release of Alan Wake? Had you, like me, been waiting over 4 years for the next ‘action-RPG’ extravaganza to be launched? What  bitter disappointment was felt by most. The utter lack of gameplay genius, the clunky and out-dated controls and the below par graphics all added up to a pretty poor effort by Remedy; the developer who brought the ultra creative Max Payne so marvellously to the masses.

Q1 2012 sees Remedy revisit Alan Wake with Alan Wake’s American Nightmare. The VGAs seemed like a perfect platform to show the first ever trailer for the XBLA exclusive title.

Revealing that Mr Scratch is making a return to the “sequel”? and with a glimpse of gameplay, a developer from Remedy has said that Alan Wake’s American Nightmare (has a) “pretty damn impressive storyline that expands the original in some interesting ways,”.

feature FinalFantasyXIII 2 Final Fantasy XIII 2 “A Guided Tour” Trailer Reveals Details, New Screenshots Released

Square Enix’s upcoming sequel to Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII-2, is going to have quite a number of new features and abilities that weren’t in FFXIII. A new trailer released today by the RPG giant reveals a number of details about the game that some gamers might not be aware of.

The new trailer covers a number of features in the game:

  • Historia Cruxes enable time travel and travel between worlds to towns and large environments that have NPCs, some of whom will offer side quests to the player. The Cruxes also enable players to travel to previously visited locations and replay missions for different results.
  • Enemies in the field can be detected using the Mog Clock, which enables players to detect enemies. Depending on how players engage enemies in combat and where the clock’s needle is positioned, players may benefit from advantages such as pre-emptive strikes or the disadvantage of having the “Retry” option locked out.
  • ATB gauges now can be saved up to use powerful combat abilities.
  • Paradigms will have more customization options. They can also be designed to attack multiple opponents or focused to attack a single opponent.
  • Cinematic Action events add QTE-style events to battle and “gives the player an even greater role in determining how certain key events unfold.”
  • Final Fantasy XIII-2 features a new “Paradigm Pack” system, which will enable players to add monsters to their Paradigms. Monsters occupy roles party members would use in Paradigm, learn new abilities through “infusion,” and can be decorated by players. Monsters each have their own unique ability called a “Feral Link,” which can be performed after properly executed QTE-style events.
  • Crystarium returns as the level-up and ability system. More options and flexibility are offered for building characters.
  • Players can use Mog to go treasure hunting.
  • Players will encounter “mind-bending puzzles” in Temporal Rifts.
  • Players will be able to play games in the casino at Serendipity, which has slot machine games and chocobo racing.

Players can see the trailer below and new screenshots in the gallery below it. The screenshots show selectable difficulties for battle, a means for FFXIII-2 owners to catch up on FFXIII‘s plot called “Beginner’s Primer,” the Mog Clock, a new character named Yeul and “paradox endings.”

Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be released on January 31, 2012 for PS3 and Xbox 360.
