Huxley still in development

Webzen’s dystopian MMOFPS, Huxley, hasn’t gone the way of Duke Nukem: Forever, it seems. The game’s publisher, NHN USA has transferred publishing rights to Webzen, who now plan to self-publish the game.

The game, announced back in 2005, when its Unreal Engine 3 was still something of a novelty, has spent its time in hiding for the good half of a decade, only peeking its head out every once in a while to put its 360 version on hold indefinitely, or just prove to the world that it still exists. Huxley has gone through several closed beta tests since its E3 showing last year and, though there’s still no talk of a release date, is set to come out on PC sometime.

Vanquish demo debut set for early Sept

Vanquish, the first Shinji Mikami title under the PlatinumGames brand, will make its PSN and XBLA demo debut in Japan on Sept. 2. Producer Atsushi Inaba revealed a set of demo features to Gamespot Japan and Andriasang provided a helpful translation.

“Vanquish Official Demo – Velocity Attack” will allow players to test-run a prologue sequence, casual and normal difficulty settings, an auto-aim feature and a boss battle against Argos.

And if you’re among the lucky Tokyo Game Show attendees on Sept. 16, you’ll get to check out a different demo that includes additional playable areas and a stage where a surprising mystery character appears.

While the release date for the English language version of the demo is still TBD, the full figured version of Vanquish will debut in North America on Oct. 19, Japan on Oct. 21 and in Europe on Oct. 22.

Blizzard: ‘The biggest’ Diablo news at BlizzCon

According to Blizzard, this year’s BlizzCon will hold big, big news for fans of Diablo. The biggest even, game director Jay Wilson has promised.

Speaking to G4 at Gamescom this week, Wilson couldn’t be coerced into giving any details but did depart with quite the teaser: “I can say that this BlizzCon, in terms of Diablo news, will be the biggest one that we’ve ever had.”

And what could possibly be bigger than a Diablo III release date announcement?

BlizzCon 2010 is taking place on October 22-23.

Pachter Predicts 3DS Price, Release Date

Wedbush Morgan analyst on his predictions for a 3DS release date and pricing. I know Nintendo don’t sell hardware at a loss like Sony and Microsoft but fingers crossed they keep the price as close to the cost as possible!

“I expect the device to be available only on eBay for its first couple of months. I think that we Westerners won’t have an opportunity to buy before Christmas, so think that sales by Christmas will be limited to a few million in Japan… I see it having huge success as an upgrade device, with sales likely limited only by supply and price. My best guess is that they will price it around 0/£199/€250, so this may limit demand somewhat, and I doubt that Nintendo will manufacture more than 10 – 15 million the first full year… I think that the 3DS’s addressable market is really the current DS market and some overlap with the current PSP market. That’s still a huge market opportunity.”

Limited Fable III controller is…kingly

Fable III will be the first game in the franchise to let players become a king or queen of Albion. With such a mighty duty, comes a similarly mighty controller.

Enter the Fable III Limited Edition controller. Designed by Lionhead artists to resemble the crown we saw in the game’s first trailer, the controller (image below) is, in my opinion, pretty ugly.

The controller hits retail October 5, well ahead of Fable III‘s October 26 release date, priced at .99. That much for a wireless controller? Yeah, but it comes with a token to download an in-game tattoo for your character. So there’s that.
