Sony Officially Announces the Jak and Daxter HD Collection

Possibly one of this year’s worst kept secrets, Sony has officially (and finally) announced the Jak & Daxter HD Collection for the PS3. Ignoring the combat kart racer Jak X and the PSP games, the upcoming collection will bundle the original Jak and Daxter along with Jak 2 and Jak 3 all in one nifty package. Cladun dev announces PS3 action RPG

Cladun PS3 ARPG 400x225 Cladun dev announces PS3 action RPG

This week’s Dengeki PlayStation has the reveal of a new Nippon Ichi Software title for PlayStation 3. Developed by System Prisma, the team behind PSP’s Cladun series, Meikyuu Touro Regasist is an all-new dungeon action RPG.

You play as Alto, whose sister has been turned to stone by an evil curse, on a journey to set her free. Alto and his party will explore dungeons, and return to their base after reaching their goal on each floor. In these dungeons, you’ll find traps and other puzzle elements which can affect both the player and enemies. At the base, you’re able to form a party of three based on your crew’s abilities.

When you find equipment in a dungeon, you may only take it back to base if it survives until your leave. Every piece of equipment has a health bar. If a piece of equipment loses all of its life, you lose the equipment.

Not much was revealed on combat. It will use a real-time battle system and support six job types, according to project planner Shougou Kosakai. Unrelated to the battle system, the game will have a character edit mode. Kosakai hopes to implement a system where players can import illustrations from their PC.

System Prisma is aiming for 20 to 30 hours of playtime on the main story, though there will be plenty of other things to do as well.

MLB 12: The Show Expected to Showcase Vita-PS3 Integration

mlb12theshow MLB 12: The Show Expected to Showcase Vita PS3 Integration
One way the PlayStation Vita will be able to transcend the perception of being yet another handheld device in a time when mobile gaming has siphoned off their perceived necessity is by offering linked functionality with the PS3. One of the first games to utilize features between the two will be Sony’s own MLB 12: The Show.

While what those features will be have yet to be detailed the company is sure to make the series a prime showcase for them. They have done so in the past (PS Move and 3D recently) and with the game coming out less than two weeks after the system arrives (Vita 2/22, The Show 3/6) it’ll be pushed front and center.

Some of the potential ideas have already been discussed by Sony – remote play (streaming from PS3 for access on Vita) which is already available with some PSP titles, continuous play (saving on one system and continuing on the other), and using the Vita as a controller (taking advantage of the front and back touch panels and gyroscope for additional functionality) for the PS3 are all features expected to be rolled out at or soon after release of system.

The only downside to this will be the necessity of owning the same game for two different systems – making that investment in MLB 12: The Show $ 100. It may very well turn out to be worth it however if the features and connectivity are implemented well.

What would you most be looking for out of MLB 12: The Show when it comes to Vita-PS3 integration? Do those potential features make you more likely to buy the Vita?
