I’m not home at the moment, rather blogging from the road. Normally, this would not matter, as a netbook is really all I need to do this job in short spurts. Then I see a trailer like the one above and suddenly I feel the immense lack of an Xbox 360 in my immediate vicinity.

Rayman Origins Episode 1 Hits Christmas

Giant Bomb’s non-stop coverage of a 2D platformer that I think looks like it could be pretty fun continues unabated! Ubisoft has released a second FAQ centered around their downloadable, episodic platformer, Rayman Origins, and while it’s not nearly as ” biiiiiig” as the previous FAQ, it does come with a release window, and that’s pretty good too.

Ubisoft has confirmed that the first episode of Rayman Origins (that’s the longer introductory episode that will be followed by additional, smaller episodes) will be out this Christmas on “HD consoles.” The rest of the Rayman Origins season will be released throughout 2011.

Cage 'Doubts' Heavy Rain DLC 'Will Ever Be Produced'

It appears as if clutching even the faintest glimmer of hope for future Heavy Rain DLC would be a fine practice in futility. Quantic Dream co-founder and writer David Cage has re-iterated to Eurogamer that all future DLC for the moody title has been put on hold. He even went so far as to say, “…I doubt they will ever be produced.”

During E3, Cage’s fellow Quantic Dream co-founder Guillaume de Fondaumiere made a mention that HR’s DLC had been shelved in favor of integrating the game with the PlayStation Move controller, making the pre-order DLC The Taxidermist the first and only bit of additional “Chronicles” content.

More BioShock 2 DLC Hitting In August

Sure, it’s been awhile since you’ve explored Rapture. But the call of ADAM will always bring you back–assuming that 2K Games has you pegged correctly as the type of person who likes defending Little Sisters as they suck the sweet, sweet BioShock 2 nectar out of Splicer corpses.

2K Games and 2K Marin announced Protector Trials this morning, a freshly announced chunk of BioShock 2 DLC that will have you protecting Little Sisters against Rapture’s best as they bum rush her for a taste of ADAM. From what I can tell, it looks like 2K Marin removed the reason as to why someone bothered with these sections of the campaign in the first place, and jammed them into a six-level challenge-room romp, each level of which is stripped from “favorite locales” within BioShock 2.

Review: Sam & Max in They Stole Max’s Brain!

177842 hd Review: Sam & Max in They Stole Maxs Brain!

The third season of Sam & Max from Telltale has been chugging right along with two rather enjoyable chapters. Max has psychic powers, the duo have learned a bit about their ancestry and dealt with some of the most interesting characters the series has offered to date.

The third episode released last week and it really surprised me. Somehow Telltale has managed to make a game that is, at the same time, both startlingly different and mired in a rut.

Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse episode 32: They Stole Max’s Brain! (PC [reviewed], Mac, PSN, iPad )
Developer: Telltale Games
Publisher: Telltale Games
Released: June 26, 2010
MSRP: $34.95 (season of five episodes)

At the conclusion to the previous episode, we found Sam discovering the empty cranium of his little buddy. This launches him into a despair-filled rampage through the city to find out who stole Max’s grey matter. Filled with rage, we see a side of Sam that’s completely new as he ruthlessly interrogates local lowlifes for information.

This introductory section of the game is all wrapped up in a dialog tree puzzle. At points in conversations, the player is given an opportunity to interject and change the course of discussion. Options include pressing for more information on a specific topic, physical violence and “noir.”
