Pachter Predicts 3DS Price, Release Date

Wedbush Morgan analyst on his predictions for a 3DS release date and pricing. I know Nintendo don’t sell hardware at a loss like Sony and Microsoft but fingers crossed they keep the price as close to the cost as possible!

“I expect the device to be available only on eBay for its first couple of months. I think that we Westerners won’t have an opportunity to buy before Christmas, so think that sales by Christmas will be limited to a few million in Japan… I see it having huge success as an upgrade device, with sales likely limited only by supply and price. My best guess is that they will price it around 0/£199/€250, so this may limit demand somewhat, and I doubt that Nintendo will manufacture more than 10 – 15 million the first full year… I think that the 3DS’s addressable market is really the current DS market and some overlap with the current PSP market. That’s still a huge market opportunity.”

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days DLC gets dated

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days hit North American shelves today,  just a short wait for the August 20 and 26 release dates for Europe and Japan, respectively. Perfect timing, as IO Interactive has announced that the downloadable content will start rolling out August 31.

“We are proud to be able to extend the experience in the coming weeks with more maps, weapons and toys to heighten the tension and pressure of pulling-off a high profile heist,” said Niels Jørgensen, the studio’s general manager.

The DLC will come arrive all over world in three flavors: a Multiplayer Mask Pack, Alliance Weapon Pack and Doggie Bag Pack. Other than bringing new heist locations and more “tools of the trade,” there are no firm details on what each pack will contain. Though the names of the packs themselves might be a hint. I call dibs on the Nixon mask.

Nintendo 3DS Releasing This Quarter?

According to this Gamespot article, Nintendo have let slip to Bloomberg the 3DS will ship in the next three months in Japan. I find that hard to believe but I hope it’s true!

“Nintendo has confirmed to Bloomberg Japan that the 3DS is coming out in the island nation this quarter and that pricing and an exact release date will be revealed on September 29. Nintendo had previously announced that the handheld would be out in America some time in 2011 after confirming at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo it would be out this fiscal year. No dates for other regions have been confirmed.”

The girls of Neptune get frisky in new artwork

>In case you haven’t heard of neptune-countdown-girl-transformation-pending-170254.phtml”>Neptune already, here’s a quick rundown: It’s a PS3 roleplaying game from Compile Heart in which transforming girls represent real-life videogame consoles in an oh-so sly parody of the videogame industry. I’m sure it’s clever and satirical and all that, but none of it matters right now because there are drawings of girls doing implied lesbian things.

These images come from a set of telephone cards that are being given away as preorder bonuses in Japan. They feature the various console-flavored heroines getting better acquainted each other, which should please fans of little girls who look ashamed of themselves.

There’s still no word of a Western release for Neptune, but I hope it arrives Stateside. I just want to see what this silly thing is like.

Japan special edition No More Heroes 2 comes with stuff

Japan special edition No More Heroes 2 comes with stuff screenshot

He who laughs last, laughs best. That’s what I always told myself whenever the Japanese would get a game months or years before I would get the opportunity to play it. I would hope, often against fate, that the version I got would have a special edition full of nifty stuff the Japanese didn’t get and then I could feel better about the wait.

Now the shoe is on the other foot. The difference is that Japan is getting a special edition that I’d actually want. Behold the No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle Hopper’s Edition. It comes packaged with the game, a DVD featuring an all-new film and some other goodies, a soundtrack CD and an art book. Then, just to rub it in, people who pre-order in anticipation of the October 21st release will also get an “erotica comic.”

The whole package will be sold for 8,980 yen or just over a hundred US dollars. If I hadn’t already purchased the game once, I’d probably give some thought to importing this. But, honestly, I’m mostly just curious to see where they take that comic.
