For those keeping score at property, that’s seven platforms like arcades that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 has created its way onto in the almost decade and a half because its initial release. Not bad for a game that, for a although, was running for upwards of $ 100 or far more for a way out of print disc copy.

The entire roster of characters from the original will be producing their way more than to the iPhone and iPod Touch along with the tag team action. PAX East 2012: Ms. Splosion Man Mobile Videos & Hands On

SPLOSION TOP 525x346 PAX East 2012: Ms. Splosion Man Mobile Videos & Hands On

Do we have any Ms. Splosion Man fans on deck? While on the PAX East show floor, I dropped by the Twisted Pixel booth to see what was new with them. Ms. Splosion Man was a major hit on the Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade, but for more details check out our old review by Mitchel Broussard. But just recently announced at PAX, Twisted Pixel will be bringing their over the top (and hilarious) platformer to a much wider audience by bringing it to PC (Steam, Games for Windows), plus iOS and Android devices. Community Manager Jay Stuckwisch walked me through the details, telling me that “PC version will include 50 single player levels, 50 co-op levels for up to four players locally or online, ghost replays, achievements, unlockables like ‘2 Girls 1 Controller Mode’, and more. The iPhone and iPad versions will be a unique experience built specifically for those devices with familiar content but all new features, objectives and gameplay modes, brought to you by a new version of the BEARD engine that takes utmost advantage of the latest and greatest hardware to make the game look stunning.” You can check out the official announcement trailer bellow, along with my flip camera video at the bottom.

I had a lot of fun playing the demo on the Ipad, even though I died more times than I would care to admit. Jumper games are not my area of expertise, per say. Controls were very basic, with backwards and forward controlled by a simulated joystick on the bottom left corner, while taping the right for Splosions. In the second video bellow, I redeemed a small amount of my pride as I watch Jay attempt the same level, to give you a taste of what is to come. Do bare in mind, the demo he is playing in this video is not the finished version, as some of the textures and graphics still look a little rough. I would also like to apologize for the glare on the Ipad screen, but it isn’t there the entire time. Enjoy!

Be sure to stay tuned to Platform Nation for even more PAX East 2012 coverage.

Kickstartin’: ‘Shadowrun Returns’ Beats Its Goal By $100k

shadowrun Kickstartin: Shadowrun Returns Beats Its Goal By $100k

The last time we had a new Shadowrun game, it didn’t go down so effectively. Maybe what we require now is a downloadable Computer/Android/iPad version from the guy what developed the complete “cyber-fantasy-RPG” thing.

It only took 28 hours for Shadowrun Returns—the current title for the nascent reemergence of the series—to reach its Kickstarter pledge objective of $ 400,000. As of this writing, it’s at the moment at a tiny over $ 500k with 23 days to go for you to receive quite a few notifications from Kickstarter that your close friends and backing the game. Exceeding its initial objective has elicited the promise from developer Harebrained Schemes that this will ensure a Mac version of the game with a LINUX version still a possibility.

With series creator Jordan Weisman on board, Shadowrun Returns will dig deep into the lore of the RPG series with the return of magic to the modern day globe (nicely, the year 2050), which means elves, dwarves, goblins, and dragons are back alongside cybernetic augmentation. Weisman will be joined by a host of other writers who’ve worked on Shadowrun titles-past, so the new title won’t lack for story.

The new game will be familiar to any person who played the SNES and Genesis games virtually 20 years ago, as a class-based, 2D, turn-based RPG featuring a dialog mechanic with missions across 4 realities. Harebrained also promises that the game will consist of a Computer editor so that customers can produce their own scenarios, or “runs” in the future.

No word on a release date, but you can locate out more about Shadowrun Returns on its Kickstarter page.
