The publisher did not share considerably on the title aside from a logo. Its platform has not been announced.

The occasion showed better focus on Ace Lawyer 123HD, a new iOS five. title (iPhone 3G/four/4S, iPod Touch 3rd/4th, iPad 1/two), which combines the initial three games, Ace Lawyer, Ace Lawyer 2, and Ace Lawyer 3, in a single package. A release date was not announced.

Steam released their long-awaited, surprisingly-existing mobile app today into the loving arms of those who hit the download as soon as they heard it existed. It seems like the beta entries closed down shortly after the app launched so only the first few have obtained access to the program.

Because I take any opportunity I can to throw money at Valve I was one of the lucky few to get access. After exploring the app and feeling bad over listening to some of the Piki Geek editors weep in anguish, I compiled a walkthrough so everyone can see what to expect.

Note: this is the Android version but the iPhone one should be largely similar.

This is the login screen for the application. Nothing fancy. It’s nice to see that Steam Guard is fully integrated but it is a bit strange since emails, where the Steam Guard code gets sent, are tied to the phones anyway. Make sure you have good passwords and don’t fall for phishing attempts, folks.

This is the first screen you will see when you get past the sign in screen. The menu button on the top left will be where you access everything the app has to offer. Touching a person’s name will send you straight to their profile, complete with all the information from their online Community page including games last played, time and group memberships. That chat bubble opens the chat with the person and also indicates waiting messages.

The chat looks like an iPhone’s text message application and works like Google Talk does on Android. I’m impressed it’s working so well. Group chat doesn’t seem to be compatible, though. If you want to remove a chat, you have to click the arrows at the top right and click “Delete Chat History”.

The store looks similar to the desktop application thanks to the scrolling header at the top but the list is simplified with the most pertinent information: price. The only issue I have with the store is that the pictures can take a bit long to load, causing it to look bare for a good few seconds.

Perhaps the most interesting part of the Steam Mobile app, the Friend Activity tab acts like a sort of Facebook wall for Steam games, including Achievements, wishlists, purchased, groups and recommendations.

The official Steam News feed. The News section seems to be the main reason for the Beta tag since it’s bare past this point. Perhaps the latest article’s headline alone. Not even a link to the actual article.

The Syndicated News feed. Likewise, bare and empty. Only the official game blogs have any content.

The Settings tab. Nothing out of the ordinary. The Date of Birth category will be for accessing the Store Pages for M rated games and actually remembers the date you first enter on a Store Page down to the weekday. On a personal note, I never realized I was born on a Saturday. Man, I’m the worst date night ever. The app also has its own notification ringtone, which comes from Steam itself.

The area where you enter the date of birth when first visiting a store page. Don’t let the +/- fool you, you can also type in the numbers and month so you don’t have to scroll through 18-50 years. This isn’t mine, by the way. 

The Store Page for a game. All the usual info you would see in the browser is present. Missing is the header image and big blue “Add to Wishlist” button at the top.

Buying a game looks pretty much exactly like on the desktop. Steam Mobile even remembered my payment information from my Steam client so I didn’t have to enter in my payment details all over again.

And bought. Very quick, very painless.

All in all, this beta app works better than many other apps I’ve tried on the Market. They could definitely just cut the News feed out and release it as a full-fledged app. I suppose the real problem lies on the server side. Access to this beta came the same way as a DOTA 2 beta invite – through the Steam Inventory.

I would wager it would be much easier for them to get people involved in waves rather than the mass migration like back when Half-Life 2 launched. The only two complains I can really pin on the app are the the inoperative News feed and slow-loading Store Page. Otherwise, this is the Steam Mobile app we’ve all been waiting for.

Fishlab Studios yesterday announced the development of the second piece of Galaxy on Fire 2 content, with Supernova due for release in Q2 this year. Suernova will carry on where the first piece of content, Valkyrie, ended.

“Supernova will not only be more cinematic and more varied, but also at least twice as long as Valkyrie,” says Fishlabs CEO Michael Schade. “We’ve put a lot of time and effort into the writing of the complex new storyline, which includes a lot of new mission types and makes for a truly outstanding gaming experience. But also the graphics and the sound design will be absolutely top-notch! When it comes to Supernova, the name really is the game!”

Supernova for Galaxy on Fire 2 will be released onto the App Store Q2 this year, and will be compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

After the unravelling of the Valkyrie conspiracy, daily routine has returned to the Deep Science space station. Apple has finally let the Xbox get a foot in the door of the iTunes marketplace with My Xbox Live, a companion for your online exploits. Complete with social features like friends lists, the application is remarkably quick to load data and menus. The app is free and available for iOS, which means both iPhones and iPads alike.

If the title wasn’t already evidence enough, I’ve been burned by XBL apps before, which have often proved stunningly slow and cumbersome. My interest for quickly glancing at who was online was often outpaced by my impatience for an application that just buffered forever. I’ve personally played around with this new app on my iPhone and I’m nothing if not impressed. Heck, they even kept those soothing boops and beeps for menu navigation.

From the main screen, you can view all the Inside Xbox videos and game trailers that normally appear on your console’s dashboard. A quick swipe to the right reveals a social tab, with a fluid animation of your avatar and the ability to view your friends list. You can also send and check messages and notifications from the new Beacons concept, so you can see what games your friends are looking to play.

Impressively, you can even edit your avatar from the application, though unfortunately the marketplace for new items is not available. Admittedly, I can’t think of a situation where I would need to quickly change the shirt on my little character while at a restaurant or airport terminal, but it’s a nice bonus feature for an already free app.

My favorite thing is definitely the screen for comparing achievements with friends. Click on one you’ve already earned, but your friend has not, and your avatar appears at the bottom with a hearty cheer, while their character lowers his or her head in utter shame. It’s that wonderful feeling of superiority right at your fingertips!

3D video recording and more come along with the newest software update for Nintendo’s handheld.

If you turned on your 3DS between now and yesterday, chances are you were prompt to update the system’s firmware. Exciting, right? Well, Nintendo’s actually dropped a few very interesting new capabilities into their hardware which, according to this Joystiq article, was supposed to be making its way onto the 3D console last month. It’s still November-ish, right?

And a couple of the features are clearly attempts to gain some lost ground with iPhone users, lending the hardware some capabilities that Apple’s handset might not quite be natively capable of undertaking.

• The big thing is the 3D video recording with the option to create stop-motion animation. Allowing users to create clips up to 10 minutes long, this should be a neat feature for users to play around with and I expect to see many of your junior Avatars making their way online somehow in the near future. Kotaku has actually provided a handy little tutorial on making your own videos here.
• Nintendo has also loosened some of the constraints in transferring software between systems, meaning, well, this is a thing you can now do.
• In the Streetpass view, you can now use a handy map overlay to see where all of the Miis you’ve collected up until now have come from.
• There’s also the sequel to the 3DS RPG Find Mii, which will be unlocked once you’ve completed the first game.

The whole update is as simple as turning your handheld on and connecting to the Internet.
