Right after news of a Christmas sales slump of 17.6 percent, UK and Ireland retailer GAME has been forced to admit it could struggle to meet debt repayments. The company mentioned it has closed 39 stores in the past year and could close yet another 60 in the UK by 2013. GAME CEO Ian Shepherd mentioned: “Our market had an extremely tough 2011, and so did we. We stay the market place leader and have a clear approach which will return the enterprise to growth. We are adapting to the changing marketplace and are well ready for the subsequent hardware cycle.”
