In the early days of graphical computer games, adventure games reigned supreme.  Led by businesses like Sierra, gamers were allowed to discover worlds employing their keyboard to sort commands like Open Door, Push Rock, or Ifnkovhgroghprm.  These graphical adventure games at some point began utilizing a new device named a mouse (yes, there was a time when computers had been mouseless), and doing away with the keyboard completely.  Metal Dead picks up the genre at this time, and is a mouse-driven graphical adventure game that would be correct at residence in the mid to late 1980s.  Metal Dead is not afraid to spend homage to their predecessors either, and a lot of of the best jokes in the game are derived from material from other games and movies.

There’s not significantly I can say about the story that won’t take away from why you’d purchase the game, so I’ll keep it straightforward.  Zombies are attacking, and you require to locate out why.  Most of the story takes spot in a medical facility, and you and your heavy metal rock buddy tackle the mystery a single floor at a time.  Literally the progression is broken up by restricting access to the different floors till you’ve performed different tasks by way of the point and click interface.  Fortunately, the icon you move about highlights when hovering more than an item that can be interacted with (although most are merely for substance, quite few really progress the story).  Descriptive and frequently witty feedback is given, depending on what you try to do to these numerous objects, and was one of the charming items about these types of games that I’m glad was captured in Metal Dead.

Your character can carry a bit of inventory (that is frequently utilized with objects in the environment to progress, and occasionally can be combined with other inventory items), but most of your interaction will be via the hand or mouth icon to do or speak to factors respectively.  You’ll have access to an in-game hint system as effectively, which is extremely effectively completed.  There is also the selection to save and load your game, but if you’ve got three hours to kill, you won’t need it (I never ever died whilst playing, and only saved as soon as when I had to leave the game).  Information is delivered solely by way of on-screen text, and there is a decent (but oft repeating) MIDI soundtrack that plays throughout.

Five New Dead or Alive Five Screens

Dead or Alive 5 Five New Dead or Alive Five Screens

Team Ninja is hard at work crafting that other 2012 Japanese fighting game, Dead or Alive 5, and publisher Tecmo has kicked a handful of new screens our way to remind all the soul suckers out there that their rivals over at Namco aren’t the only ones working on a big fighter. Speaking of big things, the clothing on Ayane and Hitomi is conspicuously larger and provides far more coverage than we’ve seen out of the series in the past.

You have to wonder if maybe someone is responsible for this development. Perhaps even somebody who is responsible by no longer being on the team. Unfortunately, as far as we know, there’s no one like that.

What’s Frank West’s New Destination Post ‘Dead Rising 2?’

dead rising 2 off the record e3 2011 screenshots Whats Frank Wests New Destination Post Dead Rising 2?

A post at the official Dead Rising Facebook page might point to a new game or content for the zombie-smashing franchise.

If this post from “Frank West” is legit, that would mean that Capcom is still pretty happy to be in the “wartime photographer smashing zombies” business. Stating that he’s done with Vegas stand-on Fortune City from Dead Rising 2 and the Frank West-centric remake, Off the Record someone posting in-character as West claimed that he was packing for a new adventure, on the way to paradise.

Having just enjoyed an adventure in that nebulous space where the Marvel and Capcom universes apparently meet, where else can Capcom take Frank? While Official Xbox Magazine speculates that this could mean a new game in the series, possibly revealed during the VGAs, I suspect it’s more likely Capcom simply has more DLC plans for the series on the way. Maybe Frank will get to go to fake Hawaii or fake Samoa. Maybe the story could take Frank to the source of the worms which propagate the zombie virus in the Dead Rising Universe (in the setup for the first game, a mostly Latin community was overrun by shopping malls and businesses and the villainous

Either way, it feels like it’s too soon for an announcement of another numbered title in the series.

Rumor: Dead Rising 3 set in California, stars Rick the auto mechanic

DR3 Rumor Rumor: Dead Rising 3 set in California, stars Rick the auto mechanic

Dead Rising 3 is set in the fictional city of Los Perdidos, California, according to a Siliconera source. The town is locked down after the zombie outbreak, allowing no man leave. Rick – an auto mechanic and the game’s protagonist – hatches a plan with a group of survivors to get out of the doomed city.

Rick’s idea is to restore a plane and escape Los Perididos before the city is completely wiped out by a bomb.

The game has a drift of themes surrounding illegal immigration, said the source. A character called Red leads a group of infected people unregistered by the government. There are also uninfected psychopath characters, who went bonkers after the outbreak. You’ll fight one psychopath, a biker, who drives a motorcycle with a steam roller attached to it.

Earlier today, Capcom teased a forthcoming Dead Rising 3 announcement. If anything, confirmation shouldn’t be too far off.
