What is a WAKFU ? WAKFU is but another free-to-play MMORPG, this time published by Square Enix. WAKFU is at present in its open beta stage, and will release to the globe on February 29, 2012. WAKFU features 12 classes for characters to select from, and is anime styled. We have a couple of videos right here for you, showing off two of the character classes.

Sadidas are the class shown in the video above. They are devoted to protecting plant life in the world. Thought of as just lazy plant summoners, the Sadidas will not hesitate to dominate those who attempt to cross them.

This video attributes the Osamodas, the beast tamers of the Planet of Twelve. Their faithful companions, the Gobgobs, are typically found hopping along side of them to capture souls that they can use to summon into battle. The Osamodas use the powers of earth, air, and fire to attack and can also utter a variety of cries to boost the capacity of their summons and give orders.

Were you excited about Monolith’s lately released TF2/Batman inspired shooter, Gotham City Imposters? Whilst it appears like it will be a fun game, Monolith appears to be going too far with the DLC as indicated by the game’s marketplace page.

They are charging anywhere from 80 to 320 points for single items. In common, 80 points charges a dollar, so you are paying up to $ 4 for a single piece of gear. There are upwards of 100 items accessible for purchase as of now. Here’s hoping these items will be unlockable in the game and not just as paid DLC.

Right after a rough week for Game Group Plc the inevitable has occurred and GAME has confirmed job losses at its Basingstoke headquarters.

A total of 46 roles roughly 10% of the workforce at the head workplace in Basingstoke have been cut. A spokesperon for GAME said:

“The proposed restructure will result in around 46 fewer roles at our central support centre in Basingstoke..Our proposed new structure will modify the way that we operate and will allow us to be drastically a lot more effective in our relationships with suppliers and customers.

Amongst the layoffs, there is a also a corporate restructure with many people taking new positions inside the company. Former commercial approach director Tricia Brennan became chief commercial officer, while the new channel director is the former managing director Tom Devine. The man who was in charge of the recent relaunch of www.game.co.uk Dave Hughes will leave the firm in March.

GAME recently dodged a bullet immediately after it was in a position to renegotiate credit agreements with main lenders and publishers allowing for it to get stock of the newest titles. Even so as rumoured it is promoting it’s overseas enterprise as has set a deadline of this Friday for companies to make an provide.

Based on this new trailer from Atlus, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor two will not be straying too far from the style of the 2009 release. In terms of plot, it doesn’t seem very far from the usual-usual with SMT games, featuring a ticking clock until the finish of the world and a group of young folks generating deals with demons to stave off the apocalypse.

Far more details about this release and the trailer immediately after the break.

According to the official site, the very first game’s mechanics have been fine-tuned right here, and there is a new Demon Compendium (think Pokedex for demons), along with more demons and a promised doubling of the content from the original. The character designs this time around are by Suzuhito Yasuda who was behind the characters in the anime Durarara!!, bringing a much more elaborate appear to the series’ characters than in previous installments.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 will be available on the DS February 28th.

Ubisoft yesterday released a new trailer for upcoming PSN (or must that be SEN?) and Xbox Live Arcade title Shoot Many Robots.

The trailer introduces you to some of the robots you will be shooting. Right after watching the trailer it does appear that numerous robots will be shot. Fairly an apt title for a game it seems.

Shoot Numerous Robots will be released on the PS3 and Xbox 360 as a downloadable title this year.

It is difficult to think that fifteen years have passed considering that the release of the first Resident Evil. In some methods, the series has come along way. Resident Evil: Revelations is the eighth game in the series, so extended as you’re following canon and excluding the myriad remakes, spin offs and string of terrible movies.

Despite the reinvention of the series in Resident Evil 4, the series has relied mostly on the exact same old survival horror tricks – fighting monsters, collecting and conserving resources, solving puzzles whilst submitting to the odd low-cost scare, and chaffing under the weight of a cheesy script and illogical a single liners. For far better or worse, Resident Evil: Revelations definitely fits the series.

In contrast to last year’s Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, Revelations attributes a robust single player campaign that combines each the slow burn style of the earlier games, and the quicker paced method of the much more current installments. Considering that most 3DS games are speedy to remind you to take frequent breaks, Revelations plays out in episodic fashion, which in fact suits the common pacing of the story. There is even a “Previously in Resident Evil” recap in in between every episode.

The story is set in 2005, for the duration of the gap amongst Resident Evil four and 5. The Bioweapons employed by Umbrella have fallen into the hands of the black market and have been wantonly passed among all sorts of terrorist organizations. The most prominent of these is known as Veltro, who wish absolutely nothing far more than to infect a single fifth of the world’s oceans with a new strain of deadly virus, all while quoting The Divine Comedy to make them appear both smarter and a lot more psychotic at the very same time.

Revelations puts you in the boots of returning heroine Jill Valentine and partners her up with fellow BSAA agent, Parker Luciani. Together, they are sent to investigate a derelict cruise ship, the SS Queen Zenobia, in search of Chris Redfield (yes, you are searching for that guy once again). Naturally, the ship has fallen prey to an outbreak of the aforementioned bioweapon, and is now crawling with all manner of mutant freaks who want to claim your mortal bodily composition for their own nutritional benefit.

For the most part, Revelations is confined to the claustrophobic interior of the SS Queen Zenobia, a setting that recreates the eerie atmosphere and backtracking gameplay style of the mansion from the original game. You’ll be hiking by means of dark, dank corridors and deserted halls even though evading blood sucking fiends and solving puzzles, now integrated with the stylus. It is classic Resident Evil and it feels good to play it once again, within the palms of your personal hands no less.

Regrettably, the game routinely switches place, forcing you by way of a backstory as various characters. These levels fulfill the action theatrics of the far more modern day installments of the series, equipping you with surplus ammo and a lot of enemies to shoot at. The large issue is that these segments feel hollow by comparison. It is as if the developers had been scared to keep players confined within the moody, enclosed space of the ship for too lengthy, and felt that a much more balls out approach was necessary to appease the broader gaming demographics.

In some of these action sequences, you will be fighting off hunters. Seasoned fans of the series will remember that the hunter posed a substantial threat in the older games, with the ability to rob you of your head with a single swipe of their claws. In Revelations, the hunters attack in larger numbers and are far easier to put down, diluting considerably of their original menace. It is something that I recognized in Resident Evil 5, when they reintroduced the lickers who approached you in mass like annoyed cattle becoming herded into a field, rather than the ceiling lurking torso piercing death mongers of Resident Evil two.

Luckily, the game’s new Raid Mode tends to make better use of the more action-style sequences. It is basically the spiritual successor to Mercenaries, and allows you to play co-op with an additional friend either locally or online, or by your self if you are feeling lucky. In this mode, you play by means of levels of the game, which have been amped up with far a lot more enemies and a leveling up/point scoring mechanic. Some enemies will be blown up or shrunk and imbued with added toughness or speed, which adds a frantic comedy element to it that recalls the Metal Gear Solid:VR missions. By leveling up and gaining knowledge, you of course unlock better weapons, characters, outfits, upgrades and levels, which get considerably tougher the additional you go via. As it stands, Raid mode is a great addition, and manages to embody every little thing that is very good about the new style of Resident Evil.

As far as gameplay goes, Revelations utilizes the identical third individual more than the shoulder camera as pioneered by Resident Evil four. The 3D mechanics operate well to ground your character in the forefront of the action, giving you a excellent sense of space among you and your enemies. The game functions perfectly in 2D, but the stereoscopic capabilities are implemented nicely and never too naturally, which would have been easy to have carried out, given the classical gimmicky nature of horror and 3D.

The greatest adjust to the controls is that you can now aim and shoot at the very same time. Following Dead Space fairly much raised the bar, 1 of the main criticisms leveled at Resident Evil five was the inability to carry out such a simple combat maneuver. It was introduced in last year’s The Mercenaries 3D, and regrettably it is nonetheless as clumsily implemented in Revelations. The difficulty is that you are unable to manage the pitch of you aim whilst moving, which can be severely debilitating, particularly when you’re surrounded.

In spite of this, combat is as satisfying and functional as it has been in previous installments, although lacking in the tactical depth and kinetic punch of Dead Space’s tactical dismemberment. The shotgun is nevertheless the very best and most satisfying way of fending off monsters, and there is nonetheless that locked area containing the magnum that you have to go out of your way to retrieve. Throughout the campaign, you will collect weapon upgrades, which will enhance energy/fire rate and so on. All these abilities will of course carry on to New Game + that is unlocked right after completing the campaign for the very first time.

One more new addition to Revelations is the genesis scanning device that enables you to investigate your surroundings in first individual mode. You can use it to either reveal hidden items or to scan enemies, conjuring the spirit of Metroid Prime. Nonetheless, rather than giving essential data on your adversaries, all this mechanic really does is give you encounter points which ultimately add up to reward you with a medical herb. A lot more could have been done with the mechanic, as it comes off feeling like a survival horror version of Pokémon Snap.

As for the monsters, Revelations consists of an army of pasty spindly-limbed biohazards that look as if they’ve been pillaged from the pages of Guillermo Del Toro’s sketchbook. Aside from the disappointing return of the hunters and infected wolves, the ship-based enemies are the principal attraction, inducing a bit far more creepiness into proceedings. The greatest difficulty is that they don’t genuinely do much. They’ll attack at diverse moments, exploding out of vent shafts or cupboards, attempting to bludgeon you with their barbed fists or force their leech like tongue in your face, when they get too close. You are never granted the thrill of exploding headshots as in earlier games in the series, but there is a decent quantity of enemy variation that modifications the dynamic from time to time.

Resident Evil Revelations is a solid entry into the series and simply the best searching game on the 3DS. Aside from some formulaic missions, the primary campaign is a tightly executed expertise that transcends the handheld device it plays on. By reigning in the expertise into an episodic campaign that most importantly echoes the series’ humble past, you actually get a wholesome dose of survival horror. It is just as involved as its console based forbears, that little cartridge packing a campaign that lasts at least 8 hours. Add Raid mode into that equation and the game’s replayability is enhanced substantially. If this is a sign of factors to come, the 3DS is in for one hell of a year.
