Bungie may possibly work on Activision IP

The main goal of Bungie and Activision’s 10-year partnership is to allow the Halo creator to develop and bring out games based on their new action game universe with the backing of the publisher’s wallet and multiplatform development expertise. That, however, doesn’t rule out the possibility that Bungie may become involved in Activision’s intellectual properties as well.
“It’s a discussion that might come up, but they partnered with us specifically based on the vision that we have, and the universe and games that we want to bring to the world in the next decade,” community director Brian Jarrard said, speaking in an interview following today’s big announcement. “Who’s to know if there are other discussions where we have chances to work together in other areas, but that wasn’t one of the core talking points in making this deal.”
Bungie appears to be willing then, at least.
As for who will own what, it was immediately made clear that Bungie will hold onto all rights to the IP they create. But technology is a bit of a gray area.
“It’s pretty hard to quantify because there might be stuff that we specifically do for us, and there might be stuff that stems from collaboration that leverages some technology that they might already have,” he said. “I don’t think I can definitively say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to that. I think it’s going to be a degree of gray there that it’s just going to be on a case-by-case basis.”

PlayStation Store to now update on Tuesdays

Since the launch of the PlayStation 3 over three years ago, the PlayStation Network has always updated its content every Thursday. That’s about to change. Sony’s sent word via the official Playstation Blog that PSN update day is moving up (or down depending on how you look at it) to Tuesdays from here on out.
One of the main criticisms levied against releasing their content on Thursdays has been the slight delay between release of multiple platform content like downloadable games, as Microsoft usually releases Xbox Live Arcade games on Wednesday, and now the tide has shifted to the opposite direction.
Today marks the last Thursday that PSN will update on, and they’ll be starting up this upcoming Tuesday with a bit of a bang as Modern Warfare 2’s Stimulus Package DLC will arrive on PS3 along with the PSP release of Fat Princess: A Fistful of Cake.
Fresh Tournament of Legends trailer
High Voltage’s re-branded coliseum brawler Tournament of Legends is out in a few months’ time. Just about time for a status update then, and this ‘Becoming a Legend’ trailer, the first in a series, does that well.
The game missed its initial May release but seems to be sticking to the mid-summer street date; as it stands, it’ll be out on July 6.
Trailer time for Alan Wake, buy the game new and get first DLC free
It’s nearly launch time for Alan Wake, so here’s a brand new trailer to secure last minute hype. Titled “Wake Up,” it’s mainly a bunch of clips from the cut-scenes, but the action montage towards the end certainly gets the blood pumping.
There’s good news in the war against pre-owned games too; anyone who picks up a new copy of the game will get the first piece of DLC absolutely free when it releases later in the year. A token code card will come boxed in with the game.
Mr. Wake’s adventure starts on May 14th in the EU, and 18th for the US.
Treyarch’s Call of Duty ‘on a new level’

With the reveal just around the corner, Activision has started talking up this year’s Call of Duty release, and they’re not holding back.
According to chief operating officer Thomas Tippl, the Treyarch-developed title will be elevating the series to a new level; no overhyping then.
“Tomorrow you will see a teaser for this year’s Call of Duty game,” Tippl told VentureBeat, referring to tomorrow’s episode of GTTV which will air a teaser trailer for the title. “Treyarch is working on it and taking the Call of Duty franchise to the next level.”
The game’s been rumored to be titled Call of Duty: Black Ops and will possibly take players on a globetrotting ride from Vietnam and Cuba to the Soviet Union.
