EA lays off Boom Blox team
Today’s studio lay-off story comes from heavyweight publisher Electronic Arts. The recently laid off EA Los Angeles senior software engineer Jeff Dixon broke the news that the team responsible for Boom Blox was let go. In total, fourteen employees got the axe.
The team was working on a new intellectual property using the Xbox 360’s Project Natal. While the team no longer exists, the project will continue on with EA Bright Light Studio.
Meanwhile, EA explained that the layoff and ensuing transfer of projects as a “routine event” and that “moving projects to leverage development strengths is common in global studio organizations,” also promising that “all eligible employees will receive severance and outplacement assistance.”
Splinter Cell Conviction Xbox 360 Bundle Unveiled
Here’s a look at Ubisoft’s upcoming Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction Xbox 360 Bundle. Priced at $400, this special edition bundle consists of a 250GB Xbox 360, two wireless controllers and a standard edition of the game. Sadly, there’s no word on availability yet.

Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY To Feature 3D?
According to CVG, the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the upcoming "Game of the Year Edition" of the smash hit Batman Arkham Asylum will feature 3D gameplay. Accroding to an add released by a gaming site in India (check screencap below), this new version will support Trioviz 3D technology and will offer two sets of 3D glasses.

MLB 10: The Show Issues Being Addressed
SCEA has sent word that some early issues which have been discovered in MLB 10: The Show are either being fixed or are in the process of being investigated. The two most significant appear to be low “potential” ratings affecting players across the league and the classic stadiums not unlocking with the provided codes.
- The classic stadiums are not being opened up for use after entering the pre-order code. While the code is accepted the stadiums remain unavailable and attempting the code again results in an error message. This is server related so once ironed out access to the stadiums should be granted.
- There is a bug that has caused many players to have lower “potential” ratings than they should. This is going to be fixed with the next roster update which is expected to arrive on Monday (March 8th).
- A thread has been posted at Operation Sports which goes over some of the problems being stumbled upon within Franchise mode with the current status of those being updated.
