EA lays off Boom Blox team

Today’s studio lay-off story comes from heavyweight publisher Electronic Arts. The recently laid off EA Los Angeles senior software engineer Jeff Dixon broke the news that the team responsible for Boom Blox was let go. In total, fourteen employees got the axe.
The team was working on a new intellectual property using the Xbox 360’s Project Natal. While the team no longer exists, the project will continue on with EA Bright Light Studio.
Meanwhile, EA explained that the layoff and ensuing transfer of projects as a “routine event” and that “moving projects to leverage development strengths is common in global studio organizations,” also promising that “all eligible employees will receive severance and outplacement assistance.”

Splinter Cell Conviction Xbox 360 Bundle Unveiled

Here’s a look at Ubisoft’s upcoming Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction Xbox 360 Bundle. Priced at $400, this special edition bundle consists of a 250GB Xbox 360, two wireless controllers and a standard edition of the game. Sadly, there’s no word on availability yet.
