EA: Medal of Honor before September

medal of honor1 EA: Medal of Honor before September

With Battlefield: Bad Company 2 just a month off, we figured EA would leave a sizeable gap between that and the release of its other modern war shooter, Medal of Honor. The end of the year sounded about right, but it could now be as early as July this year, according to a recent SEC filing from EA.

The title is pinned for a Q2 fiscal 2011 release, which covers from July to September 2010. Most likely we’ll see it in the latest month, then, but knowing that it isn’t too far off now gets our engine fired up a bit more.

EA preparing new Epic shooter, Dragon Age, more

A recent SEC filing shows that EA has a few surprises up its sleeve for their fiscal year 2011. The document shows that a to-be-announced “Dragon Age Title” and a co-published “Shooter from Epic” will be out in Q4 (ends March 31, 2011).

The Dragon Age title is on the way to the consoles, PC as well as handhelds, while the Epic game will be released for consoles and PC only.

An unnamed “Action Title” (marked down as “Console Full Game Download”), a “Fighting Title” (Q4) a “Spore Title” (Q4) and two Need For Speed games (one in Q3, other in Q4) were listed as well.

Dead Space 2 and EA’s Epic shooter slated for early 2011

dead space 2 093009 Dead Space 2 and EAs Epic shooter slated for early 2011

EA’s tentative release schedule for Q4 of ficsal 2011 (or, as us normal people call it, January-March 2011) contains more than a few intriguing entries. You already heard about the new Dragon Age game — but listed just below that is an untitled “Shooter from Epic TBA.” Of course, this can only mean one thing: Gears of Madden 2012 is within spitting distance of becoming a sweet reality. Or, the listing could point to more speculative details about that possible “Bulletstorm” project from Epic’s People Can Fly studio.

Also listed under the Q4 releases is Dead Space 2, which EA had previously promised would drop before next March. The excitement level of the remaining games drops off like the deep end of a pool: The list includes (deep breath) a new Need For Speed, a downloadable action game, a new fighting game (likely EA MMA 2012), a new Hasbro game (more Family Game Night?), and new installments in the Sims and Spore franchises. We’ll let you know once we start uncovering the identities of these unannounced projects.

Amazon: 360 Platinum Hits are buy 2, get 1 free for a limited time

platinum hits Amazon: 360 Platinum Hits are buy 2, get 1 free for a limited time

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Amazon is now offering a special buy two, get one free deal on Xbox 360 Platinum Hits titles. The deal is fairly straightforward: just pop three Platinum Hits games into your cart and the cheapest of the three will be knocked down to the wallet-friendly price of zero dollars. It’s really the perfect excuse to pick up some great games you might have missed, especially considering many of them have sequels out this year — notably Fable II, Halo 3, Fallout 3, Mass Effect, BioShock and Dead Rising. You’d better do it quick though, as the offer is only valid through February 13 and only while supplies last.

[Thanks, Goldenchild]

Square Enix hard at work x5

square enix Square Enix hard at work x5

If you ever want to make it in the games industry as a developer of some sort, then you might want to head for Square Enix and ask for an interview. The probability of getting a job at the japanese powerhouse would probably be far greater than at any other developer given the fact that they recently told Famitsu they have as many as five projects in development, two of which are seeing a 2010 release. That is a bigger number than what president Yoichi Wada said a while back.

Since they’re “unannounced” projects, all we can do is speculate. But rather than us guessing at some Dragon Quest and/or maybe some more Final Fantasy, despite Wada’s concerns, any bets?
